Always a Joy October 8th, 2023

Thanks Claire and Fritz, this is the third or fourth retreat to the cottage. It’s always a joy to spend a few days in the vineyard. This visit my daughter accompanied me. She has arthritis and her joint pain disappeared. I suggest you consider opening a spa for your retirement! All the best. Jim. Siobhan.

Better Each Year September 17th, 2023

Is it possible for this place to get better & better each year? Well it does! Love absolutely everything here. Already looking forward to next July. J&N Picanin

Home away from home September 13th, 2023

This truly is our home away from home. But truthfully, we prefer it here. We love our other home but it doesn’t have the peace and quiet that we so enjoy here. It is always soothing to arrive here at the cottage and sad to leave. Our saving grace is knowing we have our dates for next year on your calendar. Every year we learn more about the grapes and find interesting places to check out. Enjoy some well deserved rest this winter. Love and hugs . Until next year. Carol and Darren.

Here we are saying Goodbye For Now. Again. It is made a little easier knowing we will be back next September. Over the next year we will often daydream about our time here when we need an escape from life’s challenges. Being here soothes our souls and washes away our troubles. We are grateful to all three of you for this wonderful gift. Until we return we wish you good health, success in getting the grapes picked. and safe travels wherever the road takes you. Pleasure to Reconnect August 5-15th, 2022

It has been a pleasure to reconnect with Claire, fritz and Pekoe & stay in vintage View Cottage. It had been our hope in 2016 to return to this piece of paradise. The cottage has everything you may need & offers breathtaking views from every window. Sitting on the deck overlooking Skaha Lake & Penticton (Day and Night) provides a feeling of peacefulness. Strolling around the property allows one to appreciate the antiques Fritz has on display, The vineyards are impeccable. We loved Pekoes daily visits with her sweet temperament. Claire and Fritz are unmatched as hosts, making sure all is well with the cottage & Fritz is happy to share his vast knowledge as a grape grower. Vintage View Cottage is definitely on our list of “Best Places to Visit. John & Carol. Saskatoon.

As Foodies, Loved the Well-Stocked Kitchen May 3-10th, 2022

We can’t tell you how much we enjoyed our 8 night stay at this delightfully quaint cottage. It was a joy to rest awhile here … and the cottage had more than everything we needed. As foodies, we must comment on how well stocked the kitchen is. The cottage was also impeccably clean and the bed was comfy and cozy. The view of Skaha lake speaks for itself!! We thoroughly enjoyed Pekoe and look forward to seeing all of you again when we return in October. Bonnie and Brian. Belcarra, B.C.

MUCH-NEEDED GETAWAY October 8th, 2021

COMFORTABLE AND COZY September 24th, 2021

The first time we came here, we had just booked this place online, and felt so lucky to have discovered this gem.

This time we came with high expectations, and again it was everything we hoped for. The cottage is comfortable and cozy. The weather was perfect.

This place is magical. Thanks for having us. Gert, Marjon & Blue Nelson, BC

AFTER THE UNCERTAINTY September 17, 2021

HOME AWAY FROM HOME August 2021

Dear Claire, Fritz & Pekoe

So wonderful to return to your beautiful, homey cottage and vineyard. As usual everything was perfect, and we enjoyed every minute of our time here. It really does feel like a little home away from home. Super comfy and relaxing.

Pekoe is an amazing canine citizen. We fondly speak of her often when we are home.

Take care, stay healthy and happy

Cheers and thank you, Deb & Ken Sherwood Park, Alberta

JUST AS AMAZING AS WE REMEMBERED IT July 31st 2021

It has been far too long since we were here celebrating our honeymoon 7 years ago. The best thing was that it was just as amazing as we remembered it.

Thank you for the great hospitiality and relaxing getaway. Rhiannon & Kris

TRULY A MAGICAL SPOT July 2021

What can we say! We knew, form the pictures how lovely the cottage was but honestly the pictures don’t do it justice. It’s truly a magical spot. It was everything we needed and more. So peaceful, so wonderful.

Not sure how we could stay anywhere else on our trips to Penticton. Of course, Nelson’s swims with Claire in the mornings stole the show, and darling Pekoe stole our hearts. Thanks for everything. Thanks for Pekos our lovely friend.

June & Nelson West End, Vancouver

A SPECIAL PLACE July 6th 2021

Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy beautiful Vintage View Cottage once again. We feel a love for this special place each time we go into town or on our ‘drive-abouts’ and enter/return through your gate and see the beauty and artistry here. This truly is such a special and exceptional piece of the world, and we love and appreciate you!

AMAZING TIME September 2020

Before heading home to Alberta, we wanted to thank you for sharing your lovely cottage and property with us.

We had an amazing time, we so enjoyed strolling in the vineyards and relaxing outside with our coffee and wine, enjoying the gorgeous scenery.

Your cottage is beautiful and cozy and has all the amenities that a person could need, we felt so comfortable.

It truly felt like paradise and was a perfect place to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

Take good care, Jeanne, and Dean McCurdy.

PS: We are going to miss Pekoe…. She felt like our own sweet dog while we were here.

Holy Cow. Claire and Fritz Were Fantastic! June 2019

And the cottage and location went beyond our expectations!  Peekoe (owners dog) is such a sweetie.  The cottage is of log construction, and is kept  perfectly clean (very important to us), and well-stocked. Tons of  windows, most of the views of the lake or landscaping.   Large, furnished deck faces the lake.   Our stay was at the end of June so we enjoyed fresh strawberries from the garden and herbs from various patches.   The vast landscaping is both meticulous and artistic.   Sun or shade is available all the times of the day. The views are stunning, the bed VERY comfortable.  Hardly a man-made sound distracted from the humming birds, quails, and myriad of birdsong. Penticton is perfectly located:  Far enough that you don’t feel in an urban setting, close enough that your needs and wants don’t require planning to get to.   In town, we recommend Claire’s shop, Teas and Weaves.  Their many travels to the Far East are reflected in the unique wares she has for sale.   Reasonable prices for truly one-of-a-kind gifts and mementos.   Our regret…  that we didn’t stay longer. Tom and Tracy.

Clean, Private and Serene

Patricia A.

Our stay at the cottage was amazing! The cottage is very clean, well stocked and comfortable; the grounds are beautiful, quiet and private; and Claire and Fritz are very warm and hospitable. We can say nothing other than it was exceptional and we would highly recommend it.

Absolutely fabulous…. May 2018

The most relaxing stay we’ve had in years. The hosts Claire and Fritz are wonderful people and they’ve done a magnificent job refurbishing the original orchard pickers cabin into a cozy rustic abode filled with many unique treasure finds from their world travels. The near-180 degree uninterrupted view of Skaha Lake from the cabin’s covered porch welcomed us every day and was thoroughly enjoyed every evening with a glass of wine while watching the sun set behind the Western hills. Once that occurred, the lights of Penticton to the North and Kaleden to the South were reflected on the calm lake water most evenings. The cabin, located a few feet from a lush working vineyard, has a certain charm that captures your attention and wraps itself around you comfortably. The immaculate landscaping around the cabin and vineyard helps highlight several abandoned antique farm/vineyard machines, some of which required explanations from the hosts as to their function, which we found to be quite educational.

A 10 minute walk from the cabin places you at the base of a climbing route in Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park which contains numerous world-class climbing opportunities. A 10 minute drive finds you at the Okanagan Lake lakefront and the newly renovated Main Street shopping area.

The cabin was fully furnished and spacious with pretty much everything that we needed to make meals and close enough to enjoy Penticton and the surrounding areas. Can’t forget to mention the hosts’ extremely friendly border collie Pekoe that was an absolute adorable asset to making our stay at Vintage View thoroughly enjoyable.

We also now have a much better appreciation on the hard work and dedication required in maintaining a vineyard thanks to Fritz’s willingness to take the time to chat and answer our many inquisitive questions. Each glass of wine we have now has a whole new perspective. And lastly, be sure to check out Claire’s shop downtown Penticton “Teas and Weaves”, that has so many interesting items from around the globe and lots of fabulous teas to choose from. Peppermint chocolate makes a great after dinner tea.

We plan to return again soon.

Theresa and Bryan, Calgary

The cottage and grounds were beyond our expectations….. October 2018

Julie F.

From the moment the gate swings open to this delightful retreat we fell in love with the beautiful yard, garden and spiffy cottage. The kitchen is well stocked. The cottage is super clean and cozy. We took advantage of the offer to help ourselves to produce from the garden. Whether perched inside with a cup of tea, or outside on the front porch with an evening glass of wine, the views of the beautifullly maintained grounds and delicious silence are addictive. The resident canine is a bundle of love and fun. We are already planning our next visit.Submitted Nov 9, 2018

Paradise in Penticton… Sept 2018

Carol H.

After the first day of our week long stay at this beautiful cottage, we made plans to return for another visit. The cottage itself is well appointed with everything we needed to prepare meals that we enjoyed on the deck while taking in the beauty of the lake and the vineyard. Claire and Fritz have chosen comfortable furniture pieces, lovely carpets and a good bed that made us feel right at home. They are warm, inviting and interesting people who are the perfect hosts. They shared their garden veggies, fresh herbs next to the barbecue and the grapes with us and we loved it all. We also loved Pekoe who kept us entertained (and I’m not really a dog person)! We would recommend this little piece of paradise to anyone looking for a quiet getaway and a good night’s sleep.

Sublime! … July 2018

Maria L.Oceanside, CA

Truly a piece of heaven set in a Monet painting. The location is beautiful beyond words, the cabin is cozy and charming (in all the best ways), the organic garden is yours for the picking, and it all comes with the most charming of hosts, Claire, Fritz, and their Border Collie, Pekoe. We came for the wine country but ended up spending two of our days just hanging out with Pekoe because it was all so perfect – can’t wait to go back!

A Place of Tranquility … May 2018

GIllian Q.

The setting for this cottage is great as it overlooks Skaha Lake. Whether sitting on the large deck or at the side of the cottage, there is always either sunshine or shade, depending on the time of day. The surrounding vineyards and garden add to the sense of serenity. The decor inside the cottage, including wool carpets and handmade carvings and tapestries etc, add to the experience.

A great place to stay. Fritz and Claire are friendly and helpful.

A truly beautiful vacation spot. … May 2018

Neil K.

Everything about this vintage cottage was truly beautiful!!! The cottage is really unique with all the decorating from around the world that Claire & Fritz have discovered and shared. The cottage is also very well equiped with everything a person feels they need. The view of the grounds that are immacuately kept, and the view from the front of the cottage overlooking Skaha Lake is breathtaking.Claire & Fritz are very warm and welcoming to make you feel right at home. There is a vegetable garden right outside the back cottage door, that you can just help yourself to and enjoy. I would highly recommend this vintage cottage getaway, and am looking forward to returning again. There is also the added entertainment of Pekoe the border collie.

Vintage View Cottage. Stunning!… Aug 2017

Judy F.

From the moment we arrived through the gates at Vintage View Cottage property we were in awe of the immaculately kept grounds and vineyard. It was so beautiful.

The cottage was immaculately clean and cozy with stunning views of Skaha Lake, mountains and vineyards. It’s was the peace and quiet that we were looking for. Claire , Fritz and ( Pekoe their very friendly resident Border Collie) were there to welcome us and showed us around the cottage. A lovely bottle of red wine was sitting on the table for us. Our little dog Jasper was welcomed as well.

We would wake up to the stunning views and sip wine in the evening on the beautiful deck. Our hosts were gracious but gave us all the privacy we needed. We will definitely go back to this lovely cottage again!

Where do I start…..Aug 2017

Ken G.

Well, first of all 5 stars is no where near enough for a rating. We’ve stayed in many B&Bs and VRBOs in the past and none are as perfect for our tastes as this wonderful little piece of paradise. We really enjoyed relaxing on the deck with our early morning coffee or evening glass of wine taking in the wonderful view. The sound of the gentle breeze only broken by the odd drop of a pine cone at our feet by Pekoe wanting to play.

Everything about this place from the green of the vineyard to the perfectly manicured lawn and the fantastic veggies in the garden is just perfect for peace and quiet and rejuvenation. You could spend all day looking at the view and it would not be a wasted day.

Thank you Claire and Fritz and Pekoe for making our stay truly unique and enjoyable. And Claire, we really enjoy the rugs we picked up at your very unique Teas & Weaves shop.

Pekoe we will be back to throw more pine cones for you.

Amazing honeymoon stay!…….Aug 2017

Lauren S.Pitt meadows, BC

My husband and I stayed at the Vintage View Cottage for our honeymoon and we had amazing stay. The cottage is so cute and authentic- perfectly overlooking the lake while providing peace and quiet with the nature around. We felt like we were miles away and were able to enjoy our time alone, yet only minutes from the city and the beaches if we wanted to explore those areas too. We found this to be ideal as we would go paddle boarding in the day and then come back to the cottage and bbq and enjoy the property. The cottage is complete with everything you could possibly need to make your stay enjoyable and Claire Fritz provide a truly warm and hospitable experience. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend staying at Vintage View cottage. Thanks again Claire, Fritz and Pekoe! 🙂

Six wonderful days on this good earth….June 2017

Jim H.Burnaby B.C. Canada

Other reviewers have ardently described your wonderful vineyard cottage, Claire and Fritz. If I ignore the modern conveniences for a moment, I could imagine myself on a nineteenth century estate; it could be Italy, with terraced hillsides of trellised grapevines. I stepped out the first morning, past roses and blue flag iris, to be hailed by Magpies and Steller’s Jays. A few meters into the vineyard I disturbed two rabbits who fled into the bush. With my old dog Choco in tow, we were slowly herded by your lovely Border Collie, Pekoe, along the back deer fence. Our attempt at stealth was productive; the flight of two more bunnies and the shriek of a Marmot signaling to his buddies on the hillside. A dozen stood up like soldiers disturbed on R&R. Then as an encore, we were seduced by a Fantail Killdeer who lured us away from her hidden chicks with a dancer’s leap, a fan of tail feathers, and a sidelong look at us across her finery. Claire and Fritz, you are the most hospitable of people. As other guests have related, Vintage View Cottage is a paradise; somewhere to write a symphony or to just compose one’s own thoughts. I must add, Claire, that we greatly enjoyed visiting your shop in Penticton, Teas and Weaves. And surely on our next visit we will stop again for dinner at Theo’s. There are many superb restaurants in your area, but for imaginative home made gelato/ice cream and baklava, there is nowhere better.

Slice Of Heaven….. May 2017

Brian T.

My wife and I just got back from our vacation at Vintage View Cottage and what an amazing and relaxing week we had. The cottage and the view are breathtaking, the picture does not do it justice. The cottage has all of the amenities you could want, including Wi-Fi, which made it very convenient to play our music. A perfect combination of cozy cabin with modern features. Very comfortable with a gorgeous deck facing the lake and vineyard, we couldn’t have asked for more. Claire and Fritz were fantastic and their hospitality and generosity is not easily forgotten. Last but certainly not least is our little furry friend Pekoe, the pine cone chasing and jumping pooch. We will definitely be returning and look forward to seeing you all again.

Beautiful!!!….. May 2017

Leanne R.Canada

My husband and I stayed at Claire and Fritz’s cottage for seven days while touring wineries in the area. The cottage was clean and provided modern amenities in a rustic atmosphere. The view from the deck is breathtaking! Claire and Fritz checked in with us a few times to ensure we had everything we needed. We have stayed in many VRBOs and this one was one of the best. We left feeling relaxed and hoping one day to return.

Outstanding spring stay…. May 2017

Carol L.

This is a beautiful cottage in an excellent location just on the edge of Penticton. The views are fantastic and the cottage is beautiful and comfortable. I had an excellent grape vine pruning tutorial from Fritz and plan to return to see the vines in other seasons. There are great hiking trails to access right from the cottage. Getting to the various wineries and to/from Penticton is easy and it was so nice to be in a quiet beautiful place away from it all at the end of the day exploring the area.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME!…. Sept 2016

Stephen S.

This is a perfect “home away from home” for exploring the Okanagan Valley; there isn’t a thing that Claire and Fritz have overlooked to make you feel like you are truly in a “home” rather than a rental. The cottage even comes with the resident pup in the event you are missing fur. The views are spectacular-you can spend the evening with a lovely glass of wine from your days bounty overlooking the sunset on Skaha Lake, listening to wonderful tunes that Fritz has downloaded for your use (he is quite the music buff). The cottage is exquisitely decorated with treasures from the hosts travels all over the world. As Claire owns a kitchen store, the kitchen is well-stocked, needless to say. And in addition, they offer fresh herbs and vegetables from their kitchen, right outside your door.

From the warmest of welcomes to a tearful goodbye, you will not regret time spent in this delightful cottage with delightful hosts; come as strangers, leave as friends.

Paradise Found!….. Aug 2016

KAREN G.

Pictures are true to life! You won’t be disappointed! All the conveniences are included and the location on the edge of Penticton is handy to Skaha Lake, Skaha Bluffs, Kettle Valley Trail, and the numerous wineries in the Okanagan area. Fritz and Claire are warm and friendly hosts, graciously sharing their piece of paradise and friendly dog Pekoe. Grounds are beautifully kept and it was wonderful for us prairie dwellers to experience a vineyard. Will definitely return!

Lovely welcoming home away from home… Aug 2016

Ian H.St Brelades Bay, Jersey

We spent 6 very enjoyable days here in August. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, and the property had everything we needed (apart from an iron which was promptly loaned to us for a few days). The views are stunning, but the property is only 10 minutes from Penticton, making it easy for shopping or restaurants and sightseeing. Overall, we would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for a character property in which to relax.

WOW! Paradise Found… Aug 2016

John & Carol S.Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Vintage View Cottage is truly an oasis!!

From the moment we arrived we felt totally relaxed on this private meticulous setting. We were warmly welcomed by both Claire & Fritz.

The property is an absolute joy to explore & appreciate. It is groomed to perfection with a view that is second to none. We were invited to enjoy fresh vegetables from the garden……delicious!

The cottage is tastefully decorated & furnished to reflect “vintage.” Looking out every window is picture perfect with a panoramic view of the property, Skaha Lake & Penticton. It is unique & very comfortable with all necessary amenities provides, including an excellent barbecue.

We loved having Pekoe visit us!

We typically like to try different VRBO’s, but we both agree that we will come back to “Vintage View Cottage” in the future.

Fritz & Claire: we thank you for your friendliness & hospitality. It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Look no further…….you have found the perfect property for two!

A wonderful first impression that lasted all week long… June 2016

JoannaSt. Albert

We stayed at Vintage View Cottage in June 2016 for 7 nights. When we drove into the property we were immediately impressed by the beauty of the vineyard, the large trees, the flowers, and the view of Lake Skaha. We had the feeling that this would be the little oasis we were hoping for and we were not disappointed in any way. Fritz greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is very comfortable, cozy, and clean. The description on VRBO matched the property well. It is also has a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, and new washer and dryer. Fritz and Claire were friendly and warm throughout our stay. We never felt out of place on their property and we had plenty of privacy. Overall, we would highly recommend this vacation rental and hope to return in the future.

Wonderful Stay….. May 2016

Amazing place to stay. This place added to our trip by giving an beautiful, quiet place to relax at the end of the day. Incredible view of Skaha lake and the park behind the property which is very easy to access. Claire and Fritz are amazing hosts and truly made us feel welcome and ensuring we had everything we needed during our stay. We were very lucky to have another friend either waiting for us or quickly coming to meet us when we returned, that being their quiet playful dog Pekoe. The place has everything you need including two patios to let you soak in the sun and incredible view. The cottage is nestled between vineyards and their immaculate manicured property. We would look no further than this property if we were to return to Penticton, assuming it was available!!

Paula and Steve… May 2016

Vintage View Cottage is beyond anything you would ever expect; a place of complete peace, a place where you feel like you have found ‘home’, a place of excellence. From the moment you enter through the private gate to the endless, perfectly kept vineyards you know you have found something exceptional. Claire and Fritz are incredible people. They will make your stay one filled with a welcome that is seldom seen anymore. Their dog Pekoe is amazing; we enjoyed many walks with him and laughed over his incredible jumping abilities! The cottage is perfect. I know no better word. The kitchen is bright and well equipped for gourmet dinners, with a large BBQ just outside the kitchen door. A quiet sitting area on this side of the cottage is perfect in the morning with the warm morning sun. The living area is lovely, with many decorations added from the owners travels around the world; a unique touch not usually seen in rental units. The living area overlooks the lake and mountains. Just outside the door is a beautiful covered deck with outside furniture to sit and enjoy the view of the vineyard, mountains and lake. The hummingbirds almost in constant flight while we were there. The bedroom is gorgeous and very large. Everything is immaculate. The bed is very comfortable, with only high end linens and again more art and antiques that truly make this cottage a place that will never be forgotten. Opposite the bed are wall to wall windows again facing the mountains and lake. Outside the patio doors from this room as well, is another deck with a table and chairs for dinners with the evening sun setting behind the mountains. The property is incredible. The vineyards, rose bushes, large trees, gardens, are all perfectly cared for. Walking through the property daily was a real highlight. Just outside the gate, just a short walk and you can hike endless miles to the bluffs. The views are incredible, and the peace. Another short walk down the road and you can visit a local winery and enjoy excellent wine and cheese overlooking yet another gorgeous vineyard. You will not want to leave. You will wish that you booked many additional nights. And you will do all you can to return. Thank you Clair and Fritz for sharing this very special place with us; for offering to us a place of peace, beauty and excellence.

A Rare “Vintage” Experience!…. Sept 2015

Janeal A.

My husband and I had an opportunity to return once again to the Penticton area and fortunately came across the listing for Vintage View. Their availability was sparse but, lucky for us, we were all able to carve out six contiguous nights for our stay there.

WOW! The property itself is perfection – the view, heavenly – and the owners as sweet and dear and accommodating as it gets!

The Okonagan is a most special area to explore – its food, wines and physical beauty and outdoor opportunities abound. The valley covers an extensive are and, for us, the Penticton area is the best vantage point from which to explore the rest of what is offered.

This place and its owners hold a special place in our hearts and we certainly hope to get back there again! Thank you dear Claire and Fritz!

Vintage View Cottage…. May 2015

Christine H.

We So enjoyed our stay at Vintage View Cottage. We found it a wonderful place to relax, write, hike, climb, play games, cook and enjoy wine with friends. The beautiful views, the vineyards, the trail, the rocks and even the fabulous rusty old relics that adorned the property made for excellent photo opps. We didn’t even need to go off property to have a great vacation get away. But did one day, to check out Penticton’s shopping and it’s golf courses only moments away. Teas and Weaves a wonderful place too! Very well equipped, clean, fabulous friendly hosts. We’d recommend it to all our friends. Loved it. We’ll be back. 🙂

Home Away from Home…. Sept 2015

Lisa SCalgary, AB

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Vintage View Cottage for the first week of September and it was nothing less than spectacular. The Cottage felt like home, Claire and Fritz were wonderful hosts and our morning visits from Pekoe while sipping our coffee on the deck was a great way to start our day. The vineyard is stunning and the view is world class. I would absolutely recommend staying at the Vintage View Cottage! You won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I just spent a week at this amazing cabin. I can only echo all of the other amazing comments and ratings for this wonderful property. You will not be disappointed by staying here and there is no doubt we will be back! Highly recommend it!

Pastoral gem… July 2015

Nancy S.Calgary, Alberta, Canada

This accommodation is in a beautiful setting amidst a vineyard and overlooking Skaha lake. The cottage is well equipped, very comfortable, clean and aesthetically lovely. An herb garden borders the patio outside the kitchen. The host couple were very hospitable and always sought to make our holiday a special experience. They were generous in sharing their delightful border collie Pekoe with us for a session of fetch or two. We always felt we had a great deal of privacy and the amusements of town and lakeside were a short drive down a little used road. We would feel very fortunate if we were able to manage another visit in future.

Summer Highlight… July 2015

D.CNorth Vancouver, BC Canada

This was our second summer vacationing at Vintage View and it was a summer highlight 2 years in a row. The cottage and surrounding area fits our family vacation wish list to perfection. The character, cleanliness and comfort of the cottage is superb and the views and surrounding vineyard is magical. The hosts are very welcoming, we definitely hope to return again next year. Thank you Claire and Fritz!

Wonderful wine cottage in the vineyard…. July 2015

Bill T.Vancouver, BC, Canada

We enjoyed a great week at this charming log cabin in the middle of a working vineyard overlooking Skaha Lake. Peaceful but within 5 minutes of Penticton’s downtown and near some excellent wineries – almost across the street from Pentage, one of our favourites. Claire and Fritz were wonderful and attentive hosts, going well beyond expectations. Thanks for a lovely stay and we would return again in the future. The cabin has a full kitchen, dishwasher, BBQ outside and everything you need to cook, as well as TV and Wifi.

Peaceful paradise…. June 2015

Shane L.

The cottage, views, fresh veggies & herbs, and hospitality were incredible. We loved the rustic ambiance of the 100 year old cottage, and appreciated the upgrades to meet our comfort needs. A little slice of peaceful paradise. Looking forward to our visit next year!

A Hidden Gem…. June 2015

Michele D.Canmore

This is a well-deserved rave review.

The cottage: The cottage is a very clean, comfortable, well-equipped piece of local history, with a modern bedroom added-on and high-quality bed linens provided. You can easily cook a great meal, with fresh veggies you’re invited to help yourself to from the garden. There are two outdoor tables/chairs for eating meals in the sun or shade. The bathroom is quaintly decorated, with all the hot water you could need and good pressure. The living room is comfortable, stays cool, and comes with an iPod full of a great selection of international music. There’s also a TV, but why bother when you have a never-ending view of the vineyard, lake, local wildlife, and Okanagan Valley?! Wireless internet is strong, reliable, and without broadband or data limits.

The property: The cottage is on a quiet gem of an Okanagan property that has been beautifully landscaped. It’s no more than a five minute drive from downtown Penticton – a “town” that still enjoys a quieter pace and less of the tourist crowds, yet has all necessary amenities, and is within easy driving or biking distance of plenty of recreational opportunities. But if you aren’t an outdoorsy type or just want a rest, you can a have a great vacation without ever leaving the property. All the birding you could want can be done from the Cottage’s front deck, the hammock is a great place to catch-up on your reading and sleep, and the sunsets are worth staying up for. Although this is a fully functional vineyard, meaning there are workers on site daily, the cottage is still very private.

Your hosts (I saved the best for last!): I’ve booked vacation units all over the world, but have never encountered more gracious hosts than Claire & Fritz; plus Pekoe, the wonder dog who’ll come over to play with you if you want – or leave you alone if you don’t. Claire & Fritz are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, exceptionally generous, and fantastic conversationalists. They’ve got a long history in the Valley and some great stories to tell of both local and international exploits. They’ll go out of their way to make you welcome. But, like their dog, they’ll also leave you to mind your own business.

You can book their cottage in full confidence of a fantastic get-away and even better hospitality.

do this cottage or miss something great…. May 2015

What a fantastic cottage, if you want a quiet getaway, this is it, beautiful views, with a very well appointed dwelling with hosts that see you want for nothing.

Quaint, Quiet, Quintessential….. March 2015

C & JSundre

At the end of a quiet, one lane winding road sits Vintage View Cottage nestled in a private vineyard. We spent seven spectacular days at the cottage, March 2015. We so enjoyed our stay in this quaint heritage log cabin, beautifully decorated with antiques, fine woven rugs and filled with all the comforts of home. With Skaha Bluffs to the east, Kettle Valley Trail to the North and Okanagan Lake to the west the cottage is ideally located for active couples who enjoy hiking, biking, running and water sports or for those who wish savour the natural beauty of the area. Penticton is minutes away. The view from each cabin window is impressive. Hosts, Fritz and Claire were gracious and hospitable. It was the quintessential holiday. We look forward to our next stay at VVC!

Skaha Bliss…. Sept 2014

L and LSaskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Above, the Skaha Bluffs, below in the middle distance Skaha Lake and the hills to its west, all around a vineyard and rolling lawns on the gentle west-facing slope. At the centre, a 100 year old log cabin, windows and views everywhere. The cabin has been beautifully restored, furnished and equipped, and recently a new wing skillfully added providing a glorious master bedroom.

Not easy to list or to rank all the attractions of this jewel of the Okanagan Valley. Location, location, location, the cabin, and, especially, the owners, Claire and Fritz. Claire was away during our stay and Fritz was a wonderful host: very welcoming and hospitable; strongly connected to the land, the garden, the vines, and to the entire Valley; and very happy to talk with us about the amazing history of his and Claire’s settlement and development of the property.

When we travel and stay awhile in one place, we like to rent a house. This late September visit to the Okanagan was to taste and purchase some of the wines from several of the newly established producers. This was hugely enjoyable, as was our stay amidst Claire and Fritz’s vines. A great place and great hosts. We’ll be back. Try it!

the nicest cottage ever…. Sept 2014

Our 4-day break at Vintage Cottage was the best stay ever. Everybody knows that the wine region around Penticton is spectacular, but Vintage Cottage is its hidden diamond. Thanks to Claire & Fritz the small wooden house made us feel as we never wanted to leave this place. Very clean and cozy, well equipped. Lovely place in the middle of private vineyard with a view on sunset upon the Shaka Lake. And the night sky make you think about the decision whether you gonna lie down in comfortable bed or you will stay all night long watching that beauty on the porch…

The South Okanagan at its Best… Sept 2014

B&GVictoria, BC

We enjoyed a delightful week in the Vintage View Cottage. It is just as shown in the listing only better. The cabin itself is beautifully maintained and outfitted with every convenience. The location has spectacular views of the lake but is also wonderfully peaceful and quiet. Claire and Fritz are the perfect hosts, hospitable and welcoming without being intrusive in any way. Ours was a thoroughly positive experience and we would recommend it without reservation – this cottage is a real gem.

Perfect Getaway…. Sept 2014

We spent 5 glorious days at this beautiful cabin in September 2014. Claire and Fritz were wonderful hosts and were very helpful with suggestions on how to enjoy this scenic part of BC. Great hiking, wineries galore, jazz festival, Penticton market, and more. The view is amazing from the cabin that has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing vacation. We could have easily stayed longer. Check out Claire’s store Teas and Weaves in Penticton. Thank you so much Claire and Fritz for the memorable stay and your warm hospitality. Would go back in a heartbeat.

The cabin has an excellent view, being located above the Skaha lake in Penticton, the setting are perfect for a quiet, relaxing stay, with vine, trees and many birds populating the yard. You can practically admire the valley and Penticton by night from the height of your bed in the large bedroom. The guest house is suited for two adults plus an extra couple for a short stay, but we found it perfect for a family with kids. we have a two and a half year old daughter and I think children could enjoy playing a real huge “backyard” or benefit of a lazy afternoon in a hammock.

Vintage Holiday…. July 2014

D.CNorth Vancouver, BC Canada

There is so much to experience in Penticton in the summer months and Vintage View is the perfect starting and end point to your day. Morning coffee and breakfast on the deck overlooking the natural beauty of the vineyard and lake, hike, run or bike ride before peak sun and then cool off with a swim in one of the nearby lakes (short drive away). Or simply take a break from it all and relax at the cottage with a book and beverage. A wonderful place and the owners were very welcoming!

Beautiful, peaceful… July 2014

We spent three nights at the cottage and we loved it! We arrived after a long day of driving and were greeted by our hosts, Fritz and Claire, who made us feel at home the moment we arrived. They showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed before leaving us to settle in.

The cottage is very clean and beautifully decorated with art from the hosts’ many travels. It has all the charm of days gone by and the convenience of today. Cooks will be delighted with the well-equipped kitchen and new appliances. There is also a herb garden near the door and access to a garden. The iPod dock with pre-loaded music and many other thoughtful touches show that great care went into the cottage.

The cottage is surrounded by a beautiful vineyard and gardens and it’s obvious that Fritz and Claire take great pride in their property. The view is breathtaking and we sat on the front porch until the sun set and the lights shimmered in Skaha Lake. Behind the vineyard are the Skaha Bluffs and a short walk down the road connects you to many hiking trails.

Fritz and Claire are kind and gracious and genuinely take pleasure in having guests. Although they live on the property and are happy to assist or give recommendations, the cottage is very private. The property feels safe and I would feel comfortable staying there on my own.

The cottage, the beautiful setting, and the genial hosts made us wish we had booked a longer stay. It was perfect and we will definitely be back!

Peaceful get away…. June 2014

Sandy T.vancouver, BC Canada

This place is heaven on earth. It is so peaceful and beautiful and the hospitality is wonderful. We spent 3 nights there over the canada day long weekend and had a very restful time. It has everything you need and more. It is close to town and all amenities but far enough away that you feel like you are away from the city. We loved the sights and sounds of all the little animals and enjoyed the view while sipping local wine. We will be back for sure.

Amazing retreat, fantastic hosts and a truly stunning setting!…. June 2014

We spent an amazing week at Vintage View cottage for our climbing vacation. Our hosts Fritz and Claire were wonderful and a true pleasure to spend time with. They have created a beautiful vacation property that is spotless, artfully decorated, supplied with everything you could possibly need (bbq, wifi, full kitchen setup) and surrounded by amazing gardens and scenery. We were able to walk to Skaha Bluffs right from our door to climb and enjoy sunset views and dinners from the porch. I loved all of the deck and natural space available for me to unroll my mat and practice yoga in this inspiring setting. I highly recommend this little gem for anyone looking to relax, retreat and sip on some Okanagan beauty. Thanks again for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

We were on the start of a two-week vacation in British Columbia and we were so lucky to have as our first home away from home this cottage. The cottage was exactly as advertised and more. We loved the view (outstanding), the location above the lake but close enough to town was wonderful. The cottage was so charming and was decorated so beautifully and expertly. We most loved the view but reading our books by the fire was great as well. Our hosts were so delightful and fun. They made our visit that much more special. We would only come back to stay at Vintage View if we are lucky enough to come back to the wine country. Don’t hesitate for one moment to stay here. On behalf of my husband he most loved and appreciated the super fast wi-fi access! We all have our priorities..:-) and Claire and Fritz and their lovely home definitely offered all of my priorities.

Wonderful Weekend with Friends in Wine Country… Sept 2013

Andrea P. North Vancouver, BC

What a wonderful experience! The cottage was the absolute perfect place to unwind and relax. The property…nestled among a vineyard with a breath-taking view of the lake and the Skaha bluffs right behind you (great for hiking!). The cottage was adorable and well-equipped. It had everything we could have asked for! Notable things that standout in the cottage…an outdoor BBQ, a very comfortable bed, huge bedroom with windows throughout, beautiful decor, and an amazing list of global music on an ipod to set the scene, courtesy of the hosts. As others have stated, the hosts are very welcoming, allowing us to help ourselves to their fresh veggies, and gave great recommendations of the surrounding area. We will definitely book again next year. Thanks again Fritz and Claire!!!

What can I say apart from if you are reading this, you simply MUST stay here. The cottage is gorgeous, has an amazing outlook through the vines to the lake. It has everything you could possibly need and the owners have decorated it with so many interesting things that on the last day I was still discovering new treasures. We have been touring for 4 weeks and this is by far the pick of anywhere we have stayed and very reasonably priced. The hosts could not have been more helpful or friendly but never intruded on our privacy. We also did 2 tours with Ron from Sunshine & Wine tours that we would thoroughly recommend.

One Elderly couple and their Son from Vancouver Island…. July 2013

We needed a holiday in the Okanagan Valley, place where we could relax and enjoy the summer weather. We wanted a very private accomodation with the comfort of our home. Our age and health condition (we are in our seventies have many health problems recently)We can take just so much disturbances from our environment. The noisy group holiday places were out of question. Luckily we came across the internet with this place in South Penticton, above the Skaha Lake under the Skaha Bluffs. What a VIEW! in a nice kept park like settings in a vineyard

The vintage cottage has all the modern world facilities (WFI, music center with I-pod lots of books etc.It is all set up for quality rest without the outside world disturbances.

The cottage is tastfully decorated with uniquely collected artifacts from Africa and the far East. Persian and hand crafted carpets covers the all new flooring and the ancient vintage cottage’s walls. The brand new kitchen include brand new appliances the laundry room also equipped with new washing machine and dryer. We had everything to have a very pleasant one week holidays at the Keys beautiful property. Their friendly hospitality was the most memorable for us. Definietly we will go back next year to their beautiful place if our health still let us travel. We recommend this wonderful piece of paradise on Earth in South Penticton for all people who love piece and quite and quality holidays in B.C. Canada

Terrific Cottage….. July 2013

Are we there yet?Calgary

Having survived the Granfondo bike ride, my wife and I needed time to…visit vineyards! The pics of the cottage looked promising, the location seemed ideal, and for the price of a hotel room, why not? Driving up on the narrow road just below Skaha bluffs gave us a sense that we were going to be wowed by the view. Well, not only did the view wow us, the setting in the vineyard, the hosts Claire and Fritz and the cottage itself passed all WOW criteria. Chilling out on the deck watching the sun fade slowly behind the expanse of lake and hill is truly impressive. We had plans to go into town for dinner the first night but quickly decided to stay in and eat a simply pasta meal and a salad we picked from the garden behind the cottage. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated with art from the owner’s many travels abroad. The bedroom is fantastic! It does not get any better the South Okanagan!

Vintage View Cottage…. July 2013

Fondo RidersNorth Vanouver

The 3 night stay in July at the vintage view cottage exceeded our expectations! It was well equipped with everything you need, very clean, and decorated with the most amazing art objects from around the world. The cottage overlooked the lake, with the vineyard and the most incredible hiking and climbing trails behind.

Claire and Fritz were friendly, gracious and went out of their way to provide anything we needed.

We will return next year for sure, but for a longer stay as there is so much to enjoy in the area.

Thank you so much Fritz and Claire!

Perfect Vacation Destination! Do yourself a favour and book this place!!!…. June 2013

We had the good fortune of being the very first guests of this lovely cottage in June. Let me start by commenting on the spectacular setting. There just couldn’t be a more picturesque place to stay in the Okanagan. We were on a vineyard overlooking beautiful Skaha Lake with the amazing bluffs behind us. The lights of the city reflect off the water in the evening and the sound of the country surround you…but town is only 10 minutes away.

With respect to the cottage…prepare to fall in love with the beautiful cedar log house. The whole house is beautifully furnished and decorated with art from all over the world. The entire place was extremely clean and cared for. The views from the kitchen, bedroom and living room are breathtaking. The bedroom is very spacious with a sliding door onto the deck, a heavenly mattress, and a walk-in closet. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need. The bathroom is also stocked…all you need to bring is your toothbrush and toothpaste and everything else is there waiting for you. The veranda has a barbecue, patio table and chairs, and your very own herb garden. Given that we were half an hour away from the wine routes in Oliver and in Naramata we spent most evenings on the veranda sipping wine and relaxing. We spent every morning with our coffee on the patio looking over the vineyards and the lake and listening to the birds chirping around us. Our hosts were kind enough to share their vegetable garden, with fresh kale, spinach, lettuce, strawberries, etc. Also, we had our in-laws come to stay with us for a few nights and they slept comfortably in the loft so four people can be accommodated.

Our hosts, Claire and Fritz, live on the property and provided just the right amount of privacy and presence to make us feel welcome and comfortable during our stay. When we needed some recommendations for things to do in the area they were full of excellent suggestions and tips. We went on hikes around the bluffs, went to the beach at Skaha Lake which was 5 minutes away, and lunched at local wine farms and on the waterfront. We also enjoyed the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market in Penticton. Claire and Fritz are incredibly hospitable and gracious and really bent over backwards to make our stay the best possible.

Do yourselves a huge favour and book this place as soon as you can. You will have a lovely holiday with many beautiful memories and will soon be writing a glowing review just as I am now.
